Description
And so we come to the end of 2012... and I finish another sketchbook.
Since I'm going to get a new one, I think I'll start focusing on designing the characters and settings for Artie's world. And maybe less so on Artie and the group themselves, at least until I got everything sorted out.
But since I would like to start anew, I wondered "What could I do for my last page in my sketchbook? I don't really want to show off more story elements just yet in case of spoilers, but what can I draw instead? And how can I make it fit the winter / Christmas season?"
So I came up with this. It's our three heroes as small wittle babies, and yet they're still adventuring! X3
I mostly came up with this idea after playing Yoshi's Island, but I'm not trying to rip it off as this scenario has nothing to do with the stories I have in mind for them.
In other words, this was drawn for laughs.
(Maybe I could've designed Baby Val a bit better, but eh, what can you do... -u-)
You might have noticed the weird textures in the drawing.
That's because I've used a variety of materials in this one:
- Inks
- Watercolours
- Markers
- Oil Pastels
- and Chalk Pastels (despite the fact that I detest using them.)
And collaged each layer of images on top of each other. Kind of like a traditional Photoshop. I made this as a sort of experiment to see if all the mediums I've been playing with in college have been worth it.
And... yeah, it kinda has! ^-^
This was actually quite fun to make and I'm very pleased with the end result. The procedure could use a little work in order to give the finishing piece more... substance or detail.
But for now, this was quite a fun experiment.
What do you guys think?
